Seminar 2026 Track Conductor Application

Thank you for your interest in conducting a ringing track at National Seminar. There will be multiple conducting opportunities available at this year’s event:

Beginning
Advanced
All-Star Choir
Distinctly Teen

Beginning Ringing Track is for musicians new to playing handbells or those returning to the instrument.

Advanced Ringing Track is for advanced ringers or intermediate ringers desiring assistance to move to a new level. Participants will read and refine pieces that incorporate various styles and musical challenges.

All-Star Choir is an audition-only performance group that will present a shared concert with Distinctly Teen on the final day of National Seminar.

Distinctly Teen is for individual young ringers (8th–12th grade) who wish to stretch their ringing skills and challenge their musicianship. Participants will present a shared concert with the All-Star Choir on the final day of National Seminar.

Note: the Intermediate Track is being offered, however, the conducting position has already been filled (chosen to participate in 2025 and session not held).

RECOMMENDATION LETTERS

Two letters of recommendation from individuals that have observed you conducting handbell ensembles within the past four years are required as part of your application.

If you applied to conduct a ringing track at National Seminar 2024 or Pinnacle 2025, you do not need to send new recommendation letters. Recommendations are your responsibility to obtain (and confirm with the sender that they are received) by the deadline. Letters should be emailed to [email protected], by October 31, 2025.

These pieces do not have to be part of the final list of pieces you would select for the ringing track if you are chosen as the conductor; they are used for the Planning Committee to determine the level of appropriateness. Please include the title, arranger, and catalog number.

List two full choir pieces you have directed, which are also appropriate for the ringing track that you are applying to conduct.*

These pieces should reflect a range of difficulty level, rhythm, meter, tempo, and texture. Please include the title, arranger, and catalog number, as well as the year in which you directed the piece.
