College Ring-In

Join us January 2016 for the first College Ring-In, an event for college students and recent alumni. Three days of ringing under the direction of Michael Joy culminates in a public concert on the final evening. Participants will be given their own individual ringing assignment to prepare in advance and the join other attendees to rehearse and polish the music for the final concert. The event also includes a reading session of unpublished compositions and arrangements submitted by participants. We’ll have publishers and editors from the handbell industry on hand to provide advice and guidance regarding copyright permissions and the publication process. Registration
The registration fee is $85 and includes lunch on Friday and Saturday. Members of Handbell Musicians of America receive a $15 discount.
Registration Process
Complete the online registration form by following the link below. Members, be sure to log in to your member account before registering to get the member discount.
Optional T-Shirt
We are offering an optional t-shirt for purchase with your registration. The cost is $15. You will have the option to add the t-shirt and select your size as part of the registration form.

Ringing Preferences
To give you the best possible ringing assignment we need to gather some information about your ringing experience and preferences. Provide that information by completing the Ringing Preferences Form. We will do our best to give you your preferred position.

Repertoire
You are responsible for purhcasing all the repertoire and rehearsing it prior to arriving at the event. Music can be purchased from any of our handbell retailers or direct from the publisher. Special arrangements are being made for some titles. Details on how to obtain those pieces will be added when available.

Lodging
We have secured a group block of discounted rooms at the Hampton Inn in Carol Stream – just a 15-minute drive from Gary United Methodist Church. The room rate includes a hot breakfast, free Wi-fi throughout the hotel (including your room), and free parking. Our group rate is $98 + tax (11%) Reservations can be made by calling 630-681-9200 and requesting the rate for the College Ring-In or use the group code CRI. Deadline for reservations at the group rate is December 18, 2015. The rate applies for up to 4 guests per room. Cancellations can be made up to 48 hours prior to your schedule check-in. Need help finding a roommate? Please indicate this on your registration form and we’ll try to match you with someone.
Unpublished Reading Session
Do you have a composition or arrangement you would like to hear played? Submit for inclusion in the unpublished music reading session. Just indicate that you wish to participate in the session during the registration process and event organizers will contact you with more details. You should be prepared to provide enough printed copies of your arrangement for event participants to ring. Plus, we’ve arranged for industry publishers and editors to be at the reading session to provide advice and guidance about copyright permissions and the publishing process. They can also provide valuable input and suggestions for improving your arrangement or composition.
