National Seminar 2013 - Call for Faculty & Performers

We Need You!  Applications Due November 1.

The National Seminar 2013 Planning Committee is now seeking submissions from those interested in being part of the event faculty or performing a featured or showcase concert during the event.   Next year’s event is in Portland, Oregon, July 24-27, at the Oregon Convention Center.  To submit, please follow the instructions below:

 

Faculty Submission Guidelines:

  • All materials must be e-mailed to [email protected] by November 1, 2012
  • Applicant must show proven success as a teacher, clinician, or workshop leader at other handbell events or in an academic setting
  • Applications must include:
    • Applicant name, mailing address, e-mail address, phone number.
    • A list of events and/or academic settings where applicant has worked as a clinician and the topics taught.
    • A list of titles and descriptions for the classes the applicant would like to teach at National Seminar 2013.  Please note, those that are able to teach multiple classes will be considered over those that supply only one class option.
    • A list of the equipment and materials that will be required by the applicant to successfully teach each class submitted.
    • Copies of evaluations and/or letters of recommendation showing applicant’s proven success in teaching these topics
    • Condensed biography of the applicant and a head-shot photo that can be used in event marketing materials.  Photos should be in jpeg or png format and sent as a file attachment to the email.  They should have a resolution of at least 600 dpi.
  • While the committee wants to insure that basic handbell topics are covered, we are also seeking new and original ideas and concepts to present to event attendees.  Please be creative while considering your submission.

Perfomer Submission Guidelines

  • All materials must be e-mailed to [email protected] by November 1, 2012.
  • Applicant must show proven success as a performer in public settings.
  • Application must include:
    • Performer name, contact person name, contact address, contact e-mail, contact phone number, performer website if available
    • A list of public performances presented over the past 18 months including date, location, estimated attendance, and program
    • A description of the type of performance (music style, program length, other instruments, etc.) applicant proposes to present at National Seminar
    • A list of the equipment applicant expects event to provide for the performance.  Please note, we typically provide the venue with a stage, tables, and a basic sound system with one microphone on a stand for announcements and introductions.  Performer is expected to provide their own handbell/handchime instruments, foam, covers, and any other equipment required for the performance.
    • A link to YouTube or other on-line videos of a recent performance by applicant.
    • Copies of reviews and/or recommendations showing applicant’s proven success as a performer.
