Complete Level 1 of Handbell Musician Certification in Handbell Techniques and Conducting in Area 7!   We will also be offering Accreditation for faculty to teach Level 1 Certification courses in Conducting.  Each Accreditation class is limited to 6 faculty candidates.

Karen Van Wert will teach Handbell Techniques 1 Certification. Lee Afdahl will teach Certification and Accreditation for Conducting Level 1.  An additional application is required for Accreditation candidates.  Please complete the application prior to registering for the event.

Why Certification?

The Handbell Musician Certification program is a comprehensive curriculum designed to provide training and experience at all levels to handbell musicians.  The study areas are Music Theory, Handbell Techniques, Conducting, Arranging and Composing, Handbell History (available on-line now!) & electives. Certification Class Fees:

  • Any 1 Level 1 Certification Class:     $170
  • Both Level 1 Certification Classes: $240


Accreditation Class Fee:

  • Accreditation: $225

Please note, to participate in the Accreditation Class, students must first complete an application for acceptance to the course.  A $50 non-refundable application fee is also required.  This fee will be applied to your registration fee if accepted.

Cancellation Policy

There will be a $50 cancellation penalty for any cancellations received before Dec. 22.  After December 22, no refunds will be given for any reason.  A cancellation will be considered confirmed when written notice is received by the event registrar, Vickie Iverson at [email protected]

Lodging for the Event

Lodging is provided at the AmericInn of Bloomington West at the sharply reduced rate of $99 per night (plus taxes) for a double occupancy room.  Free breakfast is provided, as well as free in-room Wi-Fi and many other amenities.
